Tim Rose
Chief Executive

Years at Three Oceans: Founded the company in January 1992
Years in the industry: 32

Roles and responsibilities:

Tim is a hands on leader with his finger firmly on the pulse of the world's fisheries and a nose for exactly when, where and which species to procure. As the chief fish buyer for the business he ensures that only the best quality fish arrives at Three Oceans, without which the rest of the business would have no foundation.

His accumulated knowledge of many individual fish species must be up there amongst the best in the industry and he is a huge supporter of sustainable fishing policies.

His pursuit of quality in both product and service is relentless and he instils this belief in every member of the Three Oceans team.

Away from work:

Tim adores family life. He is a keen competitor and enjoys all country sports, golf and snowboarding. He is a lifelong supporter of Leeds United Football Club.

Seafood opinion:

Tim loves all seafood, choosing fish over meat every time. He prefers simply cooked quality fish.

Goal:

"To make Three Oceans second to none in the provision of service, excellence and quality sea food products to the UK Food Service Industry."

Martin Jones
Supply Chain Director

Years at Three Oceans: 14
Years in the industry: 14

Roles and responsibilities:

As soon as raw product arrives at Three Oceans it is in Martin's domain and he has overall responsibility for Three Oceans supply chain. It is a challenging task to say the least that involves constant juggling of resources, and demand planning for Three Oceans' customer base.

His world is all about efficiency, and improving standards and procedures with the ultimate aim of delivering the highest possible quality and service levels throughout the business.

Martin led the project to design and build the current Three Oceans' factory which set the standard for UK based seafood processing.

Away from work:

Martin enjoys family life, and is a big sports fan. He played Rugby Union for many years before retiring through injury but his main passion now is following the Bradford Bulls Rugby League team. He also has the distinction of being one of the four Swindon Town fans in Yorkshire!

Seafood opinion:

Martin enjoys seafood and it is becoming an increasing part of his diet. His particular favourites are Seabass and Tiger Prawns.

Goal:

"To make sure that supply always meets demand"

"To help Three Oceans continue to improve and lead the industry by smashing efficiencies always"

Geoff Druce
Sales Director

Years at Three Oceans: 8
Years in the industry: 25+

Roles and responsibilities:

Geoff is the principal ambassador and 'cockney' voice of Three Oceans, taking the company's message of uncompromising quality to the market place. Geoff has spent all his working life in the food industry and a good deal of that in frozen products working on leading FMCG brands. Geoff is constantly on the look out for potential customers with the credentials for a 'good fit' with Three Oceans. He loves a challenge and works closely with 3O's development chefs to resolve new product challenges, often responding within 48 hours of a new product brief with pre-production samples.

Away from work:

Geoff enjoys family life and has his hands full with two teenage sons, who both now beat him regularly on the golf course. Geoff also devotes much of his own time to public and community service.

Seafood opinion:

Another Haddock fan who enjoys cooking for his family. Presentation is important and as Geoff says, he “enjoys a bit of theatre on a plate”.

Goal:

"To make Three Oceans envied for our passion and capability."

Kevin Parker
Stock Co-ordinator

Years at Three Oceans: from day 1!
Years in the industry: 32

Roles and responsibilities:

Some might say Kevin is a 'grumpy sod' but that's probably because he has the unenviable task of keeping tabs on a vast and ever changing stock. He has to check prices against orders for every single item that enters or leaves Three Oceans and ensure that a mountain of paperwork is completed correctly. In short, Kevin makes sure that every 'i' is dotted and every 't' crossed and has his nose firmly on the grind stone from the beginning to the end of every working day which doesn't leave much time for smiling.

Away from work:

Well “there's not much time for owt else” says Kevin in his typically candid Yorkshire fashion, but outside of his working life Kevin devotes his time to family and grandchildren. He was a keen Rugby League player in his youth and has the nose to prove it.

Seafood opinion:

Kevin is big fan of Shellfish of all types but is particularly partial to fresh crab which he enjoys served with fresh warm bread.

Goal:

"A hassle free week!"

Rachel Dillon
Executive Assistant

Years at Three Oceans: 21
Years in the industry: 21

Roles and responsibilities:

Rachel's role is rather like that of Mission Control.

She has been Tim's PA for 17 years and is his confidential link with Three Oceans when he's away on business.

In addition she also looks after the confidential administrative needs of the of the senior management team including ensuring that all travel needs are met when any of the team are on business abroad, she can put the average travel agent to shame.

Rachel also oversees all non fish purchases, keeping a careful eye on spending and raising POs for everything needed to keep the business running and factories operating smoothly.

If asked to manage the next space shuttle launch Rachel would ensure it ran as smoothly as the production line at Three Oceans.

Away from work:

Rachel is a keen gardener a passionate cook and enjoys socialising with friends. She is an animal lover too and shares her home with rescue Border Collie Toby and a black Labrador puppy Holly.

Seafood opinion:

Rachel enjoys seafood and regularly includes fish in her recipes. Her current favourites include salmon and tuna.

Goal:

"To keep 'mission control' running smoothly."

Michelle Walker
Technical Manager

Years at Three Oceans: 5
Years in the industry: 21

Roles and responsibilities:

Michelle is the latest recruit to the Three Oceans technical team, bringing with her over 17 years of valuable QM experience in a wide range of food products that will now be focussed on fish and seafood. Her remit is to assist the production team in maintaining the company's exceptionally high quality standards as the business continues to grow and develop.

Michelle's early ambition was to become a policewoman but due to a leg injury was unable to follow that dream. How apt then that she has now become a 'police woman' of all things technical for three Oceans.

Away from work:

Michelle is an avid supporter of rugby league and is a lifelong fan of Hull FC. When she's not singing in the stands, she enjoys a wide and varied taste in music and likes to spending her valued spare time with her son and husband.

Seafood opinion:

Michelle's favourite fish dishes are Sea Bass, Salmon and of course Haddock a true Hull favourite.

Goal:

"To uphold the 'laws' of quality and consistency on which Three Oceans is built."

Darren Smith
Manufacturing Quality Manager

Years at Three Oceans: 1
Years in the industry: 13

Roles and responsibilities:

Darren leads the QM team at Three Oceans, working on product specifications to meet both quality and financial expectations, auditing in-house production and key external product/ingredient suppliers and just about every other aspect of technical and manufacturing house keeping.

Darren also works closely with clients, resolving any issues that arise through the manufacturing process.

Away from work:

Darren is a passionate and accomplished (professional for 7 years) tennis player and an avid supporter of Sheffield Wednesday FC. He also likes to spend time with friends and family which regularly takes him to Sydney Australia.

Seafood opinion:

Playing lots of high tempo tennis requires a lot of protein ‘fuel’. Fish, being a great low-in-fat source of protein, is perfect and Darren eats lots of it. Particular favourites being Haddock, Salmon and John Dory.

Goal:

“To achieve the optimum level of technical quality compliance.”

Jim Dickinson
Engineering Manager

Years at Three Oceans: 15
Years in the industry: 25+

Roles and responsibilities:

As a time served engineer Jim is responsible for the maintenance and smooth running of all Three Oceans’ machinery and buildings, covering a wide spectrum from the massive refrigeration plant to PAT testing for the smallest electrical appliances.

He works closely with the company’s equipment suppliers and manufacturers from all over Europe and runs rigorous preventative maintenance schedules.

Jim is a resourceful and highly skilled engineer and can turn his hand to just about anything. After 15 years at Three Oceans, he can literally ‘feel’ its mechanical pulse.

Away from work:

Jim enjoys an outdoor life, is a keen Carp fisherman, landscape gardener and family man. All of which combine in his own back garden where he has designed and built an ornamental Coy pond.

Seafood opinion:

Jim enjoys seafood generally but has a soft spot for classic Haddock, Prawns and Langoustines. He is a keen member of the tasting panel team at Three Oceans and will try anything.

Goal:

“To keep the mechanical wheels of Three Oceans turning smoothly and relaibly.”

Dennis Futty
Quality Assurance Manager

Years at Three Oceans: 9
Years in the industry: 34

Roles and responsibilities:

Dennis has a passion for quality and 'getting things right' and makes it his business to keep abreast of any changes to legislation. Here at Three Oceans his principle role is quality assurance within the factory and he is at the sharp end of the BRC quality standards that must be maintained throughout all UK based production processes.

Dennis makes sure all products are closely scrutinised for the slightest changes in colour, coating, weight and shape to ensure the highest possible quality is maintained. This also involves taking part in daily tasting sessions to check the cooked taste and texture of all our products.

Away from work:

Dennis enjoys cooking, walking, music, reading and socialising with friends.

Seafood opinion:

Fish is a regular part of Dennis's diet, featuring at least twice a week. As a keen cook he regards white fish as a 'perfect blank canvass' on which to try out sauces and other ingredients for seafood recipes. Personal favourites include Haddock and Seabass but he is also keen to try out new, sustainable species.

Goal:

"To exceed BRC standards"

Gemma Scott
Research & NPD Technologist

Years at Three Oceans: 13
Years in the industry: 13

Roles and responsibilities:

Gemma has a unique ‘home grown’ perspective on new product development having worked in production, QA and supervisory roles at Three Oceans for many years.

She combines her food skills with a thorough production understanding ensuring that all products can be made profitably for both Three Oceans and clients alike.

Refining coating recipes, developing existing as well as new products, running the in house tasting sessions and providing NPD samples to clients are among the many aspects of Gemma’s role.

Away from work:

The apple of Gemma’s eye is her young daughter who pretty much takes up all of her spare time, with any left over spent with family, friends and holidays.

Seafood opinion:

For Gemma it’s a bit of a ‘busman’s holiday’ when it comes to seafood. Her personal favourite is traditional Haddock and chips.

Goal:

“To make great quality products that meet or exceed commercial expectations.”
